Exemption 6(b)-I of RoHS Annex III, which allows up to 0.4% lead in aluminium that stems from lead-bearing scrap recycling, expires on 11 December 2026 for EEE categories 1 to 7 and 10. For category 9 industrial monitoring and control instruments and category 11, it expires on 30 June 2027. Manufacturers and aluminium-part suppliers that rely on this exemption need to re-certify affected parts before their deadline. This guide explains what 6(b)-I covered, which EEE categories lose it first, and what evidence each affected part needs: current lead concentration by homogeneous material, the alloy and sourcing basis, and an updated supplier declaration. It also compares the successor entries 6(b)-II and 6(b)-III, sets out the full Series 6 expiry sequence through June 2027 under Delegated Directive (EU) 2025/2364, and includes a practical re-certification checklist for compliance and supply chain teams.
