The EU PFHxA restriction is one of the first legally fixed PFAS deadlines on the calendar, and for any company placing textiles, footwear, food-contact packaging, cosmetics, or consumer mixtures on the EU market, the first consumer deadline lands on 10 October 2026. Regulation (EU) 2024/2462 adds entry 79 to REACH Annex XVII, setting a 25 ppb limit for PFHxA and its salts measured in homogeneous material. The commercial exposure is real: products placed above the limit can face withdrawal, recall, customer delisting, and blocked shipments, alongside reformulation cost and inventory write-offs. What makes entry 79 difficult is that it is fundamentally a data problem. Conformity depends on current supplier declarations, test reports at the homogeneous-material level, and BOM-level substance traceability, and a prior switch to C6 chemistry is not evidence of compliance. Manual spreadsheet and email workflows rarely hold up across multi-tier suppliers.
